What goes on ”behind the scenes” ?
The OptiBoost treatment is both a technology and a method, for the user, this technology and method is bundled into a machine used post-harvest.
We use vacuum infusion to impregnate the cut flowers with a nutrient solution. But not just any nutrient solution – we have developed a functionalized nutrient solution based on the third generation of patented nanotechnology.
Vacuum enables the solution to impregnate as efficiently as possible, the solution itself is optimized to deliver the highest possible amount of nutrients for the flower.
This process takes place in a treatment chamber controlled by the main unit. A treatment only takes 36 seconds, the basic system can manage 40 000 roses/h.
The basic systems consist of one main control unit and three treatment chambers. The flowers are placed inside a chamber, and as the process begins in one chamber the next one is loaded. In the controlled environment, the optimized nutrition is boosted into the flower. Via OptiBoost vacuum we bring the nutrient solution into the intracellular space (of stem and leaves) – the plant is hydrated (15-20% more weight) and strengthened at the same time.
Flowers are placed in a treatment chamber for 36 seconds. A vacuum is created, and simulatnuesly, the flowers are impregnated with our OptiBona nutrient solution.
Two main reasons ensure the efficiency of the process.
The great innovation in our nutrient solution is that it consists mainly of….sand…that’s right, sand.
Silica, also known as sand, is one of the most common elements on earth, and it also turns out to be very effective in delivering nutrients.
Our nutrient solution is packed with tiny silica particles, which are nano-sized particles extremely efficient in giving a ride to nutrients.
Silica is also in itself an essential nutrient that strengthens the cell walls and makes the flower more resistant and strong.
Billions of Nano-Silica particles are used as carriers of Nutrition-Elements. Making the solution much faster and effective compared to regular holding solutions.
The OptiBona solution is made out of de-ionized water – which is important for the highest uniformity and effect. The stable water quality during the OptiBoost treatments – allows for guaranteed bacteria- and virus-free water which goes into the cut flowers.
Once the solution is vacuumed into the flower, it will stick to the capillaries and stem of the plant and release nutrients throughout the lifetime of the flower.
The patented solution makes the nutrients bioavailable for the flower. It is produced in Sweden with a zero-waste production process, as all raw material is transformed into a final product.
During the treatment around 4 ml of the solution goes into each single Rose.
